Alba Maria Gonzalez de Arellano MD

Our beloved mother Doctor Alba Maria Gonzalez de Arellano left this world on Friday September 29th, 2023 after a battle with a prolonged illness.  She graduated from Medical School from Zulia University in Venezuela (her country) in 1974.  She had a 24 year career in pediatrics/neonatology in both public and private hospitals (Cabimas and PDVSA). Dr. Arellano was a member of the Medical College of Venezuela and The Pediatrics College of Venezuela as well.  Dr. Arellano retired in 1998 after she had become the Chief of Medical Services, Western Division.  Dr. Arellano was in love with her profession and devotedly took care of many patients, their families and colleagues.  Alba had an enormous heart and was an incredibly kind woman.  Dr. Arellano touched many lives.  She always lent a helping hand wherever she was needed and went the extra mile whenever necessary.  Alba enjoyed decorating her home for holidays, cooking Venezuelan food in the kitchen while dancing with her daughter(s) and listening to traditional Venezuelan music. Alba loved to take care of flowers be it in her garden or as decorations inside the different beautiful homes she lived in. Alba was a dedicated wife and doted on her husband Dixon.  She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who loved her children and grandchildren dearly.  She was always there when we needed her through different life stages and she will be missed terribly.

She is preceded in death by her parents Luis Gonzalez (father), Ana Faria (mother), Alberto Gonzalez (brother).  She is survived by her devoted husband Dixon Arellano, her two daughters Ana Arellano Flood (Christopher Flood), Alba Arellano (Cody Gowins fiancee), her granddaughters Ana Sofia Flood and Lucia Flood. She is also survived by her siblings Gladys, Eleida, Ana, Luis, Isabel, Nurys, Xiomara, Jorge, Martha and Gustavo and their respective children.
