Aldo Bredolo passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at the age of 91. Aldo was born in New York City. He skipped 2 grades in school making him a young and short (4'11") high school graduate. He joked about how hard it was to find a date because all the girls were taller than him. That was Al, always joking and finding a way to make people laugh. After high school, he grew a foot taller and joined the Air Force. While stationed at Ellington Air Force Base in Texas, he met his wife of 68 years, Bernadine. They met at her high school dance and have continued to jitter bug, cha-cha, and swing through life.
After Al served, he and Bernadine resided in New Jersey, where he put himself through night school and earned an engineering degree. It was in New Jersey, that his only child, Laura was born. The family moved to Texas then to Ohio, as Al took a job as project engineer for Ashland Chemical. His family grew in 1985, when Laura and her husband, Lloyd, welcomed their first child, Daniel. Two years later, his granddaughter Jaclyn was born. Aldo was the most loving and caring "Pop". He was also a spirited volunteer: coaching little league baseball and football, participating in big brother, and spending time with Habitat for Humanity.
After retiring, Al and Bernadine moved to First Community Village. His friends called him "Mr. Al" and he will always be remembered for his Air Force hat and pipe. Among his new friends, there were none more important than the "Angels" in the Roxbury unit, who took such wonderful care of him. They assured him of a peaceful sleep. Aldo is survived by his wife, Bernadine (Bashinski) Bredolo, daughter Laura (Lloyd) Newman, grandson Daniel (Danielle) Newman, and granddaughter Jaclyn Newman. Aldo was preceded in death by his brother and best friend Louis Bredolo, his sister Sheila Varsano, nephew Allan, and niece Mary.
