Andrew Paul Haladej, age 88, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2015 at Kobacker House, following a brief but valiantly fought battle with cancer. Andrew and his family emigrated to the United States in 1937 from the small town of Kalsa, in Czechoslovakia. He was very proud of his European heritage and his U.S. citizenship. Andrew was honored to serve with the United States Marine Corp during the Korean conflict. After his discharge, Andrew attended the Ohio State University. He subsequently became employed as an engineer at North American Rockwell, and later, the Boeing Corporation. Throughout his life, Andrew was an avid sports fan. He was a marathon runner, league bowler and golf enthusiast. He loved life, his family, and his many friends. After his diagnosis, he frequently acknowledged that he had led a very blessed and fulfilling life, but he was willing to undergo any treatment to prolong his existence. Andrew is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Barbara (Brown), son John (Theresa), Daughters Theresa (Ted) Moore, Barbara (Jay) Crabtree, Lee (Dennis) Hogan, grandchildren Richard (Chris) Carpenter and Jennifer Hogan. In honoring Andrew’s wishes, there will be a small gathering of family and friends onMonday, December 14, at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026. Family will receive friends from 10-12 am. Although Andrew was a lifelong member of the Catholic faith, his final wishes included that a nondenominational funeral service be conducted. The service will be held from 12-1; Pastor Morris Bayes officiating. A private burial will follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estate.
