Angela Kuder Hulligan

Angela Kuder Hulligan, age 75, of Hilliard, Ohio died March 5, 2025, at Riverside Methodist Hospital of injuries sustained in a house fire. She was born June 26, 1949, in Berea, Ohio to Walter Frederick and Clara Jean (Gates) Kuder Jr., the fourth of nine siblings. Angie graduated from Berea High School in 1967 and went on to study voice at the Cleveland Institute of Music, under the internationally renowned soprano Eleanor Steber. Angie earned a bachelor's and two master's degrees in opera performance and stage direction. After college, she lived and worked in New York and Germany for a time, singing in various productions. She later returned to Ohio and went back to school, receiving an associate's degree in nursing in 1987. She worked in various capacities as a registered nurse, most recently and until the time of her death in home health care. She was a member of Riverside Bible Church in Columbus. As a musician, Angie sang in many choral groups and productions throughout the years. She sang with Germania's chorus and The Mendelssohn Liedertafel; spent more than two decades as a soprano, alto and frequent soloist with The Magpie Consort; was part of The Columbus Damenchor's Snow Maiden Chorus in BalletMet/Columbus Symphony's performance of The Nutcracker under Louis Biave; and sang the lead role in Collegium Musicum's production of Marc-Antoine Charpentier's Les Arts Florissants at The Ohio State University. She also attended Oberlin College's Baroque Performance Institute, singing Bach. Her last performance in a fully staged opera was in 2020, when she sang in Opera Project Columbus's Die Fledermaus, conducted by Alessandro Siciliani. Angela also directed Gian Carlo Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors at The Renaissance Theatre in Mansfield. Besides music, she was an avid gardener, a voracious and intellectually curious reader, and was crazy for movies. Her husband of 32 years, Kay William "Bill" Hulligan, was also badly injured in the fire and remained in critical condition at the time of this writing. Other survivors include siblings Austin (Sandy) Kuder of Seven Hills, Ohio; sisters Cynthia Kuder of Cameron, N.C., Sheila Daugherty of North Royalton, Ohio, Debora Burnett of Campbell, California, and Adrienne (Carla Spencer) Kuder of Roanoke, Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews; and a great- niece and great-nephew. She was preceded in death by siblings Walter F. "Fritzie" Kuder III, Vincent Kuder and Pamela Kuder.
