Ann E. Schneider

d. November 2, 2016

Ann E. Schneider claimed the final victory in a valiant fight with cancer when she died to a new life with her Lord on Nov. 2, 2016 – All Souls Day. Known better to family and friends as Mickey, she is preceded in death by parents, Keeley and Ann Sprouse, and brother Robert Sprouse. Also going before her were her sons Andrew and John Schneider, son-in-law Ron Jones, and granddaughter Lindsay Jones. Still here to cherish and smile over her memory is her husband of 62 years, William H. Schneider; son Kirk (Kathy) Schneider, daughter Mary Ann (Randy) Eaton, and daughter Laura Jones. Mickey was blessed with five loving grandchildren: Amy (Jude) Mesh, Josh (Whitney) Schneider; James and Andrew Schneider, and DiAnna (Tyler) Schneider-Himes. Four beautiful great-granddaughters also graced her life: Audrey and Ellie Mesh, Isabel Schneider, and Raegan Schneider. She is also survived by sister-in-law Patrica Sprouse Koblitz, nephews Keel and Jimmy Sprouse; nieces Barbara Varga and Karen Anderson. Also, much loved nieces Gretchen Tippie and Nora Madru, nephew Charles Young, and niece Charla Kaiser. Born in 1933 in Huntington, West Virginia, Mickey and Bill raised their five children on the east side of Columbus. Mickey had an incredible work ethic all her life. Before marrying Bill, she worked for Consolidated Life Insurance. After being a stay-at-home-mom for 21 years, she reentered the workforce, lastly in the office of then Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney Michael Miller – a job she that brought her great joy and many friends. For nearly 18 years, Mickey and Bill lived an idyllic retirement life in Fort Myers Beach, FL. There, just as in Ohio, she cultivated an ever-widening circle of steadfast friends. As one friend recently noted, she: “…had a special way of making everyone feel happy they knew her.” To say Mickey was a passionate fan of The Ohio State University – football in particular – would be an understatement. No one cheered louder for the Buckeyes than Mickey. She also was politically savvy and remained well informed about both Ohio and national politics. Before returning to Ohio in late October, she proudly mailed her absentee ballot with a write-in candidate for president. Our family was blessed to have such a force of nature at its head. She taught by example how to love, to work hard, and the importance of faith and friends. The family would like to acknowledge special friends: Rose Loudermilk, Nancy Beck, Nellie Shaner, Susie Gasbarro, Betty Pauley, and Phyllis Debenport, to name just a few. Mickey fought her cancer with tenacity like the South High School Bulldog alumnus she was. You can help continue her fight by supporting cancer research with a donation to the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute, 660 Ackerman Road, P.O. Box 183112, Columbus, OH 43218-3112, Account #313545, in her memory. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on WEDNESDAY, November 9, 2016 at St. Brendan the Navigator Church, 4455 Dublin Road, Hilliard, OH 43026 with The Reverend Robert Penhallurick, Celebrant.
