Anna Mae Shinn

Anna Mae Carlson Shinn, age 97, of Upper Arlington, passed away December 3, 2023.

Anna died just a few hours before turning 98, after a long decline. She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Jack Shinn. He was, literally, her dashing Airforce pilot when they first met at a USO dance in her hometown of Pittsburgh, during WWII.

Survived by her children, Eric Shinn (Patty), Crystal Pipic (Tom) and Joi Hill (Joe) remember their parents long marriage as a storybook romance.

She enjoyed bowling, golf, skiing, bridge and gardening. She had a wide circle of friends and belonged to many clubs; usually serving as the treasurer. Anna was an elegant, classy lady, but she was also a confirmed do-it-yourselfer. She and Jack flipped a number of houses in Upper Arlington long before "flipping" became an everyday word!

In lieu of flowers, the best way to honor Anna's memory is to donate to Columbus Humane, as dogs were a constant joy in her life. 3015 Scioto Darby Executive Ct., Hilliard, OH 43026
