Arlene or “Ar” as she was known to friends and family, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2022. She was 81 years old. Arlene was one of three children born to Samuel P and Mildred (Raffaele) Sessa in Stamford,CT on June 13,1941. She attended Stamford schools and was a 1959 graduate of Stamford High School. Arlene’s work history began as an usherette at the Plaza Theatre in Stamford. She also worked at Clairol in Stamford, as a lab tech having been a part of the development process of Nice and Easy hair color. She was a library aid at Veterans Park Elementary School in Ridgefield,CT. She entered the corporate world as a bank teller for State National Bank and worked her way up to Branch Manager at the Fox Hill Branch in Ridgefield. She was also a financial planner with American Express Financial Planning in Waterbury, CT. Her retirement years were spent on the shores of Bull Schoals Lake in Point Place, AR as co-owner of the Cactus Ridge Resort meeting people and making lifelong friends until 2013. Arlene was the member of several organizations including the Professional Women’s Club in Waterbury,CT and the Pontiac Women’s Club in Pontiac, MO. Arlene was always crafty enjoying knitting and needlework. Her latest passions were making gemstone jewelry, crafting with seashells and painting on rocks. She loved the beach and water and had an extensive sea shell collection. She excelled at many things and will be missed for her kindness towards others and her sweet disposition as well as her quirky sense of humor and her ability to see the “greater good” and the “bigger picture” in all things. Love and gratitude became her mantra. Arlene is preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Mildred Sessa, her ex-husband Bob Giglio,Sr., brother-in-law Jack Hamilton and many aunts and uncles. She is survived by her sister Carol Hamilton, brother Paul (Marie) Sessa, daughter Deborah Giglio, son and daughter-in-law Bob,Jr and Kelly(Burr) Giglio. Her four grandchildren Heather Giglio, Robyn (Mark) Johansen, Erin (Micah) Tadlock and Robert Giglio,III as well as her six great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and loving cousins. Cremation will be handled by Tidd Funeral Home of Hilliard, OH. A memorial service will be planned for a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers to please make a donation the American Cancer Society.
