Barbara Hodges (“Beejay”) Peters, our dear mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on May ninth in Cape Coral, Florida, as the result of complications following heart surgery. Beejay was born October 6, 1934 in New York City, and was a longtime resident of Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio. She is survived by three sisters, Diane Coyne (George), Doris Heiser (Edward), and Jennifer Gouveia (Norman). She leaves three daughters, Kim Fairley, Chelsea, MI, Jacquie Hiddink (Gerard), Richardson, TX, and Pamela Sprague (Keith), Houston, TX, as well as two sons, Richard Peters III (Anne) Dallas, TX, and David Peters (Cyndi), Libertyville, IL. She also leaves two special honorary sons, Carlos deLima, Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Tim Rowlands, Wellston, OH. She is survived by fifteen grandchildren. Beejay was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Winchester Hodges and Barbara Wyckoff Hodges, her husband, Richard C. Peters, Jr. and her loving companion, Jack Rowlands. She graduated from Kent Place, Summit, NJ, in 1952, and attended Cornell University where she majored in chemistry. She worked as a sales representative in the gift business for forty-five years, and until her surgery worked full-time as a gourmet food broker in Ohio, Kentucky, and western Pennsylvania. She was a lover of the arts, was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be deeply missed by all. Family will receive friends 2-4 pm on Sunday, May 19th at TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026; where a memorial and remembrance service will be held on Monday, May 20 at 10 am with the burial immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery. Friends are invited to gather at Beejay’s home (5634 Broome Drive, Dublin, OH) following the burial. Beejay requested that memorial donations be made to Hope Hospice, 2430 Diplomat Pkwy E, Cape Coral, FL 33909, where she was a volunteer.
