Barbara Thompson

Barbara (VanOrnum) Thompson, age 89, of Vermont, passed away at her long-time home in Columbus, Ohio on August 14, 2023. Barbara was a voracious reader enjoying mysteries, historical books and Harry Potter novels. She loved teddy bears, cherished having her grandchildren sleepover teaching them many card games, and knitted sweaters and blankets for each one of them. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Florence Van Ornum of Vermont, brothers Rodney and Robert and her dear Aunt Ada Duprey. Survived by her husband John Richard (Dick) Thompson of 71 years who faithfully and loving took care of her during her long illness, her son Bruce Richard (Karen) Thompson, brother-in-law Ron (Laura) Thompson, as well as her grandchildren Benjamin (Jillian) Thompson, Megan (Steven) Smith, and Tommi Thompson, great grandchildren Barrett and Micah Thompson, and her nieces and nephews Lisa, Scott, Bonnie, Bobby, Ann, Dean, and Lee.
