Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Wagoner, of Hilliard, OH, formerly of Upper Arlington, OH, passed away at her home on June 5, 2012 after an extended illness. Born on September 23, 1945 in Massillon, Ohio, Beth was the daughter of George D. “Don” and Eleanor J.(Myers) Wagoner. She graduated from Garfield High School, Akron, Ohio in 1963. Beth was recently preceded in death by her father in May 2010 and her mother in January 2012. Beth’s great love for children was shown not only in her devotion to her nieces and nephews, but also in the care she gave to the many children who passed through her office as secretary for Tremont Elementary School in Upper Arlington. In her 39 year tenure there, she was blessed by her relationships with all the children that passed through the doors, and ultimately, by some of their children. She retired in 2008 to take care of her parents. Surviving are her brother, Timothy D. Wagoner (Diana), also of Hilliard, a sister, Susan Herbert Burkhardt (Tom) of Plymouth, In , and 8 treasured nieces and nephews ; Faith Robinson (Matt), Columbus; Elizabeth Herbert-Wasson (Andrew), New Rochelle, NY; Katherine Herbert, Hilliard; Coryn Robson(Nick), Pickerington, Oh; John Herbert (Lauren), Grand Rapids, MI; Mark Wagoner (Kristy & Brodyn), Lima, Oh., Margaret Herbert (Ryan Zick), San Diego, CA, and Abigail Herbert, Plymouth, In, currently in Munich, Germany. Beth will be remembered as person whose compassion and strength were illustrated every day throughout her illness. She was well loved and taken care of by many nurses and doctors during her time at the OSU Medical Center. She became a favorite patient because of her gentleness, kindness and grace in all situations. She had a positive impact on everyone around her. She greatly loved and treasured her time with family and friends. An active member of NW United Methodist Church, Cypress Wesleyan Church, and Life in Christ Fellowship, she could often be heard as a soloist in the choir. Family will receive friends at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St, Hilliard, OH 43026 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Friday, June 8. A service will be held to celebrate her life on Saturday, June 9 at 10 am the Life in Christ Fellowship, 500 SR 142 NE, West Jefferson, OH, 43162. Burial will follow in the Alton Cemetery, Alton Darby Rd.
