Betty Hays

Betty Lee Hays, age 83, of Dublin, passed away January 18, 2011. Attended Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Dublin. U.S. Navy Veteran. Graduate of Brilliant High School Class of 1944 and also a graduate of Ohio Valley General Hospital School of Nursing, Wheeling, WV Class of 1947. Retired RN after 56 years of service including Ohio Valley Hospital, Steubenville, OH, win City Hospital, Dennison, OH, Lutheran Nursing Home in Westlake, OH and Friendship Village of Dublin. Member of American Legion Post #614, Hilliard, O.E.S. LaBelle Chapter #414, Steubenville, OH and member of The Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem. Preceded in death by parents Henry C. and Bernice L. (Gretzinger) McDonald, loving husband of 60 years, Albert Ellis Hays, May 30, 2010, brothers Henry E. and Elmer T. McDonald. Betty was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her zest for life allowed her to embrace each day with an adventurous spirit. She loved the water and was an avid swimmer, enjoyed boating and international travel, and was also an accomplished accordion player. Survived by children Cheryl Hays, Jayne (Robert) Cohn, Jennifer Sagun and Rachel (Aaron) Conley, grandchildren Jeremy Sagun, Erin (Andrew) Cohn Miller, Payton and Evan Cohn, Ashlyn, Mikayla and Carmen Conley, sister Tommy Lou Sogan of Mingo Jct., OH, niece Elizabeth Ann (Richard) Sogan Schart, nephew George H. Sogan and numerous loving relatives and friends. Family will receive friends Saturday 12-2 pm at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME WITH CREMATORY, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026; where funeral service will follow at 2 pm Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 614, Hilliard, OH.
