Brice Bowman

d. September 5, 2010

Brice Maynard Bowman passed away September 5, 2010 in Hilliard, Ohio.

Born in Dallas, Texas on May 28, 1921, Brice grew up in Lakewood, Ohio, where he was a graduate of Lakewood High School. He earned degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan and Electrical Engineering from Case. During World War II, he served as an ensign in the U.S. Navy.

In 1943, Brice married high school sweetheart, Kathryn Randt, and for many years they made their home in Fairlawn, Ohio. He worked for Goodyear Aerospace at Wingfoot Lake for thirty years and retired in 1985. He was a member of the engineering organization IEEE and Kiwanis Club. An avid gardener, photographer, reader and traveler, Brice was also a great lover of music. He studied violin in high school, and played the piano by ear. For over three decades, he sang in the choir at Fairlawn-West UCC.

Whatever he put his mind to, he did it very well. All those who knew and loved him have missed this quiet, gentlemanly, and very talented man as his spirit ebbed away from us in the last years of his life.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Kay; brother, Rev. Donald Bowman of Phoenix, Arizona; sister, Marcia (Bill) Herrmannsfeldt of Los Altos, California; son, Jim (Jane) Bowman of Hilliard; daughter, Carol (Dave) Van Gaasbeek of Canal Fulton; grandchildren Michael (Lauren), Brett (Yu-Fang), Michelle (Chad) and Lisa; and great-granddaughter, Sophia.

Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends 4-5 pm Saturday, September 11 at Tidd Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, Ohio, where a memorial service will follow at 5 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
