Calvin Delong

Calvin Curtis DeLong (88) passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 with his wife Nancy and family by his side. Calvin was born July 4, 1935 to Henry and Bernice (Overstreet) DeLong in Bedford County, Virginia and grew up in Vinton County, Virginia where he met and married Shirley (Bowles) DeLong. They moved to Hilliard, Ohio in 1962 where they raised their three children, Curt, Pam and Teresa.  

Cal retired from Willamette Industries in 2003 after 40 years of service driving a semi-truck. He was a member of Hilliard Church of Christ and a previous member of Avery Masonic Lodge #493 and Hilliard Jaycees.  His love of camping lasted throughout his life and created many wonderful childhood memories at Rocky Fork Lake for his children and through his retirement years traveling across the United States with Nancy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife of 49 years, Shirley, and daughter Pamela (Kammerer).  Survived by his current wife of 18 years, Nancy Wade DeLong, children Curtis and Teresa (Moore), 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and sister Joyce Holdren (Roanoke, Virginia). Cal's gentle and loving spirit will be dearly missed by everyone that knew and loved him. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 5th from 6pm-8pm at the Hilliard Church of Christ, 4300 Avery Road, Hilliard, Ohio 43026 where funeral service will be held at 11am Wednesday, September 6th with visitation one hour prior to the time of the service. Interment Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
