Carl Headlee passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 while comforted by the love and presence of family. He was born June 21, 1923 in Amlin, OH and was a lifelong resident of Hilliard. Preceded in death by his wife of 67 years Kathryn Headlee, parents Mabel and Virgil Headlee, sister Mildred Porter and brother Jack Headlee. Carl was a proud American and WWII Veteran who survived the sinking of his ship LST460 during the Asian Pacific Campaign for which he was awarded the Purple Heart. He retired as a purchasing agent from the Marysville Reformatory for Women. Carl was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbus. Member of Avery Lodge #493 F.& A.M for over 53 years; where he served as Master of the lodge in 1968 and also numerous other Masonic bodies. Carl never knew a stranger for he always made them his friend. He will be remembered by many for his constant support and willingness to help others. Dad enjoyed camping, gardening, “tinkering around,” fixing stuff and playing dartball and poker with friends. He was a big Ohio State fan who ushered at the “Shoe” for many, many years. He is survived by his daughters Carol (Dennis) Koons and Lori (Rob) Headlee Livermore, grandchildren Bryon (Debbie) Koons, Tyler and Taylor Livermore and great grandchildren Mason and Alex Koons. Dad, we love you and miss you. You are forever in our hearts. Family will receive friends 4-8 pm Sunday at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME WITH CREMATORY, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH. A Masonic service will follow at 8 pm Sunday. Funeral service will be held 11 am Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 55 Pasadena Ave., Columbus, OH 43228. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wounded Warrior Project www.woundedwarriorproject.org. In honoring Carl’s wishes, cremation will take place.
