Carol E. Fenton

Carol E. Walton (McGookey) Fenton, 80, of Dublin, Ohio, passed away Wednesday evening, December 21, 2016 in Friendship Village of Dublin Health Care Facility after a lengthy illness.
Born October 4, 1936, in Millfield, Ohio, Carol came to Sandusky in 1943. She is a 1954 graduate of Sandusky High School and a 1959 graduate of Bowling Green State University with a B.S. in Education.
Carol was an elementary school teacher for 29 years, retiring in 1987. She taught in Osborne, Mills, Barker, and Campbell elementary schools as well as in the Perrysburg and Canton City School systems. Carol is a member of the Sandusky Education Association, the Ohio Education Association, and the National Education Association.
Carol is a communicant of Grace Episcopal Church, Sandusky. She has served as a vestry member, lay reader, licensed lector, altar guild directress and altar guild member.
Carol was a member of the Huron and the Sandusky Yacht Clubs; serving as a past Women’s Auxiliary President.
She is survived by her daughter, Amy (Jeffrey) Wobser and by her step daughter Susan (Shawn) Griffith; and her five grandchildren, Caleb Griffith, Mary Claire (Dustin) Hermes, Luke Griffith, Emily Wobser, and Christopher Wobser.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice P. Fenton, Jr.; her parents, Clyde D. and Gertrude (Pyle) Walton; brothers, William E. Walton, Dale L. Walton and sister, Joanne (David Sr.) Dye.
Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. Monday, January 2, until the time of the memorial services at 10 a.m., at Grace Episcopal Church, 315 Wayne Street, Sandusky. Rev. Jan Smith Wood will officiate. Internment will take place in the Grace Episcopal Church Columbarium, Sandusky.
