Carolyn Dixon

June 8, 1936 — September 7, 2024

Carolyn Dixon, age 88, of Hilliard, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024.  She was born in Springfield, Ohio to the late Adele and John Poplis.

After bravely battling illness for nearly two years in hospice care, her strength and resilience have been nothing short of extraordinary. Mom was not only a remarkable fighter but also a cherished artist in the Columbus area. Her artistic talents earned her numerous awards and accolades, with one of her greatest honors being the privilege of having her work displayed in Mayor Moody's offices as the Mayor's favorite award.. She was a fixture at the Labor Neighbor Day Arts Festival and the Columbus Arts Fest and served as the President of the Bexley Art Guild. She won many awards at juried shows, was one of the artists chosen to paint The Muirfield Village Golf Course before it opened.

Her legacy extends beyond her art. Mom was the proud mother of three, the grandmother of nine, and the great-grandmother of four. She cherished every moment spent with her family and loved welcoming everyone into their home in Naples. Her deep love for our dad, Ed, was evident, and we take comfort in knowing that she will soon be reunited with him in heaven. They enjoyed their adventures living in North Carolina, Georgia and her paradise in Naples! The grandkids all loved visiting them and playing Mexican Train of which she was always in charge of the scores! The trips to Disney, Sanibel, Hilton Head and Miami were all so much fun and we will cherish the memories.

A proud "left handed Lithuanian"; Mom’s spirit and creativity touched many lives, and her memory will live on through her art and the love she shared with all of us.As the family gathered around and shared stories, we knew she was one of a kind and how many lives she touched even at the end with all of the staff of Dublin Sunrise. So many came into the room to share stories about her. Capital City Hospice has left a print on our hearts. Thankful for their loving staff. We are grateful for the support and kindness from friends and family during this time. As we prepare to say our final goodbyes, we find solace in the countless beautiful memories and the indelible mark she has left on all of us.

Carolyn was proceeded in death by her husband, Edward Dixon, parents, Adele and John Poplis, brother, Paul Poplis and her nephew, John Poplis.
