Carolyn King

d. April 7, 2018

Carolyn Rebecca King passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on April 7, 2018 in Hilliard, Ohio at the age of 61, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Carolyn was born December 17, 1956 in Charleston, WV to parents John B. and Phyllis Counts Conaway, who preceded her in death.  She grew up in a large, loving family.

Carolyn is survived by her husband Frank L. King, sons Joel King of Hilliard, Ohio and Andrew King of Charleston, WV, granddaughter Sydney King and great grandson Phoenix King of Charleston, WV, sister Deborah Conaway of Kenna, WV, sisters Suzanne Conaway and Melissa Armstrong of Kentuck, WV, brother John B. Conaway II of Kentuck, WV, sister Sandra Conaway and nephews Evan Conaway, Seth Conaway and Canaan Conaway Marysville, Oh.

Carolyn brought joy, happiness and laughter to all who knew her.  She was a driven professional with a fierce love of family and friends.  An avid reader with a passion for cooking, gardening, painting, photography and anything to do with needle and thread.  When diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016, she was determined to live her life as normal as possible while fighting cancer.  She remained a brave, iron-willed woman throughout.

Carolyn graduated from Charleston High and attended West Virginia University in the 1970s.  In the 1980s she was employed at Walker Machinery in Belle, WV, Charleston Newspapers in Charleston, WV and Tropical Shipping in West Palm Beach, Florida.  From 1990 until the present she was employed by Century Link.  Carolyn enjoyed her work and had respect for all the companies she worked for and an even greater respect for the people she worked with.

A memorial service will be held Saturday April 21st from 2 PM to 5 PM at Waybright Funeral Home, 511 Church Street South, Ripley, WV.  Her ashes will be interred beside her mother and father at the Counts family cemetery in Kentuck, WV April 22nd, weather permitting us to get up on the hill.

The family would like to thank all the great people at the Stephanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center, The James Cancer Hospital, The Ohio State University and Kindred Hospice for their constant, attentive treatment and care.  They would especially like to thank Dr. Michael Burgin and Dr. Richard Barry for their many years of care.

Her family loves her, and she will be forever missed.  Her passing has left a great hole in all our hearts.

I am honored, and blessed Carolyn was my wife; we shared a great love.  She is the best person I’ve ever known.  Love, Frank.
