Carolyn M. Vitak

d. May 9, 2017

Carolyn (Zimmeth) Vitak, 68, of Dublin, Ohio, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, with her family at her side. She is survived by her husband of nearly 45 years, James; daughters Karen (Ken) McIntyre and Jacqueline (David) Anderson; cherished grandchildren William and Elizabeth Anderson and Colin McIntyre; siblings Mary Zimmeth, Margaret (Roger) Robinson, and John (Khristi) Zimmeth; sister-in-law Leslie Frailing; nieces and nephews; cousins; and many treasured friends. She was predeceased by her parents Barbara and John Zimmeth and in-laws Edward and Myrle Vitak. Carolyn was born in Detroit, Michigan. She graduated from The University of Detroit Mercy, where she met Jim, and began her education career in Detroit, then moving to Maumee, Ohio. Always thinking of others, her devotion to her family was matched by her commitment to the many students she taught, finishing with more than 28 years at Bexley High School. Carolyn welcomed friends into her life with a generous, supportive and accepting heart. She made her friends her chosen family, including teaching colleagues, neighbors, and members of her book club, support group and water aerobics class. Carolyn was a sports enthusiast, even if not always positive about her team’s chances, and she cheered on the Ohio State Buckeyes and Columbus Blue Jackets. She traveled with her husband to watch his beloved Baltimore Orioles, a team she adopted even after growing up a Tigers fan. She enjoyed travel, the theatre and a good laugh. Visitation will be held on SATURDAY, MAY 13, 2017 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, Ohio 43026 (614)-876-1722.
