Carrie Anne Harry

d. October 20, 2018

Carrie Anne Harry, my star pulled down from the heavens, returned to her Savior on Saturday, October 20, 2018. She passed at home, in her bed, surrounded by her two beautiful daughters and husband at the age of 42.

Carrie was born in Toledo, Ohio. Her family moved to Cincinnati shortly after, where she spent her childhood and the beginning of her adult life. She graduated from Northwest High School in 1994. Carrie’s devotion to family showed even at young age, with her father’s sudden death several months after her graduation. Carrie choose to forego college to help support her family during this tragic time.

In 2000 both our lives changed in ways we could not expect, our relationship bloomed and continued to grow, even with my move to San Diego. Our love endured this distance and Carrie moved to California later that year. There she developed a love for photography, which endured for the rest of her life. During this time, we shared moments of joyful bliss and hardship but we managed to find that we were meant to be together. A few years later, we were graced with our beautiful daughter Elisabeth. Her birth brought us back to Ohio, where we were graced with our second beautiful daughter Eden, our marriage and spent the rest of our wonderful, yet short life together.

Carrie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012 and it returned in July of 2016. Soon after her recurrence I was asked if I hated cancer, my reply was no. Now looking back, I would reply the same. I hate the painful results of cancer’s grasp and the chronic pain that it caused my wife. Though, through it all she learned so much about herself. She found hope when there was none. She found comfort and had her spirits lifted by giving and receiving small gestures of kindness, she found her faith in Christ. Here is a special passage from Carrie’s journal. “Remembering the darkness and despair in my heart, reminds me of how far I have come and how my faith has grown. I thought I had a relationship with Jesus before all of this but it’s nothing compared to what it is now. I am so grateful to have all the people in my life and their love which has gotten me through the hardest of times.”

Carrie never lost that faith, even when she knew her time was ending. While we listened to one of her most comforting services, I Am the Resurrection and the Life (http://rockcitychurch.tv/series/i-am-2), and the last Amen was uttered her heart stopped beating beneath my hand. The room went silent and I knew her pain was gone. She has now been made whole again, through our lord and savior Jesus Christ.

Carrie is preceded in Heaven by her father Ronald Berndt.

Carrie is survived by her husband Jacob Harry, daughters Elisabeth and Eden Harry, mother Pamela Berndt, brother Aaron Berndt and many more loving family and friends that meant so much to her.
