Catherine "Kay" Baltare

Catherine “Kay” Baltare passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021 surrounded by family in Hilliard, Ohio.

She was born in Saskatchewan, Canada and moved east and settled in Ontario.

She then moved with her family to Livonia and Portage, Michigan.

For the past 17 years, she was a resident of Hilliard, Ohio. 

She is preceded in death by her husband Gunnar Baltare, her parents Michael and Rose Gangle, and brother Paul Gangle.

She is survived by her daughters Leslie (Philip) Petrella of Hilliard, Ohio and Leanne (Matt) Bohlender of Saline, Michigan, grandsons Bradley Petrella and Gunnar Bohlender, brother Joe Gangle of St. Ste. Marie, Ontario and many nieces and nephews across Canada.

She was a loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.  She was a doting stay-at-home mother and a skilled seamstress while her daughters were in school.  She enjoyed her friends and activities at the Villas at Mill Run for 11 years, and for the past 6 years cherished her Stone Oak family of friends and staff, and enjoyed the card groups and activities there.  She will be greatly missed.

Following her wishes, as a private person, a small Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday October 16, 2021 at Stone Oak Retirement Community for the residents only. Private burial in Portage, Michigan to be held at a later date.
