In Loving Memory of Catherine Purdin
Catherine Purdin, born on March 3, 1944, peacefully passed away on November 10, 2023, surrounded by her family. She left this world in the embrace of a peaceful sleep, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth.
Catherine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She had an immense love for her family, and her cherished moments were spent in their company. Catherine's eyes would light up with joy at the sound of laughter and the presence of her loved ones. Her home was filled with the love and comfort that only a matriarch like her could provide.
She had a special place in her heart for her furry companions, her dogs, who brought an extra layer of joy and companionship to her life. Catherine's love was not limited to her immediate family; it extended to the four-legged members who found solace in her care.
Catherine had a sweet tooth that matched her sweet disposition. Sweets were not just a treat for her; they were a source of joy, a simple pleasure that brightened her days. Her kitchen was often filled with freshly baked goods, a testament to her love for sharing the sweetness of life.
Catherine is preceded in death by her parents, Dominic and Julia Kungis, her beloved husband, William Dale Purdin Jr., her siblings, Barb Billingsley, Theresa Baker, Joe Kungis, and her grandson, Anthony Purdin. She now rests in eternal peace with them.
She is survived by her loving daughter Jennifer Severns and her husband Todd, her son Michael Purdin, and his wife Lisa. Catherine's sisters, Mary Hofbauer, Anna Laurent, and Margaret Williams (Jim), continue to carry on her legacy. Her memory lives on through her grandchildren, Amber Purdin (David Rutter), Jeremy Purdin, Audrey Severns, Cohen Severns, and her great-grandson Ethan Rutter.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Capital Area Humane Society, a cause dear to Catherine's heart. This act of kindness will honor her love for animals and contribute to the well-being of those in need.
Visitation services will be held at Tidd Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 15th, 2023, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with a rosary service and eulogies at 4:00 PM. A celebration of Catherine's life will be held at St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church on Thursday, November 16th at 11:00 AM, with the burial and wake immediately after. We invite all who knew and loved her to join us in remembering the beautiful soul that touched our lives in so many ways.
May Catherine Purdin rest in eternal peace, her memory forever cherished in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
