Chalmer (Cham) Lee Adkins, age 81, of Hilliard, passed away at home surrounded by family December 7, 2011. He was born May 20, 1930 in Branchland, West Virginia and moved to Ohio in August 1959. He served in the United States Marine Corps. He retired from Signal Delivery after 20 years of service and is a retired member of Teamsters 413. Preceded in death by his parents Leslie and Myrtle (Ramey) Adkins, brothers Eugene, Carlos and Clifford (Kip) Adkins and sister Bettina Porter. Survived by loving wife of 59 years; Alfreda (Clay); sisters Syble (Frank) Andrews and Mary (John) Barnes, brother Joe (Patty) Adkins; daughter Bobbie Payne, sons Stan and Billy Adkins,grandchilren Julie (Ira) Johnson, Jennifer Adkins (Eric Walters), Jessica Adkins, Dave (Jill) Payne, great grandchildren David Adkins, Emileigh Walters, Natalee Kimes, Sydney, Isabella, and Noah (John Henry) Johnson and Avery Payne; special neighbors Joe and Dot Schnug, friend David Payne, several nieces, nephews, cousins, Tuesday morning “breakfast buddies”, many many friends and his faithful sidekick Lucy. The family would like to extend a thank you to the nurses and support from Hospice of Columbus. You have been angels of Mercy. Family will receive friends 5-8 pm Saturday at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026. Calling hours will be held 5-8 pm Sunday at Morrison’s Funeral Home, Wayne, West Virginia; where funeral service will be held 11 am Monday. Burial at Watson Cemetery.
