Charlene Emmelhainz

Charlene Theresa “Char” Emmelhainz, age 91, passed away Tuesday May 23, 2023.  She attended Saint Catharine’s, Saint Mary of the Springs and a graduate of Bexley High School in 1949. She attended Ohio State University and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.  She worked as a bank teller for Ohio National Bank before starting a family.  She was a former member of the Olentangy Valley Doll Club and Worthington Hills Country Club, enjoying golf and times with friends. She had a fondness for dolls, and she loved to play Bingo.   Preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Richard, her parents, Charles and Helen Ward, and her two brothers, George and Charles, along with grandsons, James Emmelhainz and Spencer Matteson.  She is survived by her children Richard (Valerie) Emmelhainz, Theresa Emmelhainz (Nan Counihan), Randall (Jill) Emmelhainz, Mary (Bruce) Ratliff, Rebecca (Alan) Matteson and former son-in-law Brian Hughes; grandchildren; Dan (Keira) Emmelhainz, Chelsey Emmelhainz (Matt Lyons), Erica (Paul) Schainz, Celia Emmelhainz, Roger Emmelhainz (Maureen Bailey), Rob (Elise) Emmelhainz, Nettie Emmelhainz (Mark Sarti), Jakob (Arianna) Emmelhainz, Anna Emmelhainz, Nick Hughes, Samantha Ratliff, Nathan Matteson, Tom Matteson;  great grandchildren:  Lincoln, Zach, Clarke, Lark, Cosie, Wilder, Bernadette, Eloise and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Tidd Funeral Home, Hilliard Ohio Wednesday, May 31, 2023, 4:00pm to 6:00pm, and Graveside service will be a quiet gathering at Sunset Cemetery, Galloway, Franklin County Thursday June 1, 2023 at 10:00am.

If desired, friends may make a memorable donation to the Cancer society or Children’s Hospital, Columbus Ohio.
