Charles W. Arnold Sr., age 66, of Columbus, departed from this life on April 21, 2014. US Army Veteran who was awarded a Purple Heart in the Vietnam War. Retired from The Ohio State University as an Engineer after 20 years of service. Preceded in death by his father Charles and his mother Ruby Lomax Arnold, brother Nelson (Wimpy) Arnold and stepmother Vera Slater Arnold. Survived by wife Leyda R. Arnold of 25 years, children Charles W. Arnold Jr., Raymond D. Arnold, Vickie (Darnel) Howell and Gregory Arnold, step children Robert D. Ward and Erica N. McKnight, sisters Gerri Arnold and Deborah Arnold, 15 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Family will receive friends 4-7 pm Thursday at The Potters House, 3220 Lowell Drive, Columbus, OH 43204; where a funeral service will be held 11 am Friday with visitation 1 hour prior to the time of service. Please deliver all flowers to the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675. Interment Franklin Hills Memory Gardens.
