Charles Thomas Hirst

Charles “Chuck” Thomas Hirst, Jr., age 80, of Hilliard, passed away peacefully at the Laurels of Hilliard, surrounded by family and friends, on January 5, 2011. He was born in Columbus on January 18, 1930, son of the late Charles Thomas Hirst, Sr. and Blanche (Johnson). He is survived by his wife of 60 years Catherine “Katie” Ann (Fields);3 Brothers, Richard Hirst, David Hirst, Robert (Patti) Hirst; 3 Children, Vikkie (Arnie) Jividen, Cheryl (Paul) Lorenz, and Linda (Nile) Darbyshire; 10 Grand Children, Kristen (Jividen) Anderson, Katie (Mathew) Prescott, Charles T. (Mel) Lorenz, Nicholas Lorenz , Kelly McCloskey, Richard “Bud” McCloskey, Molly McCloskey, Kaile (Greg) Javins, Kern (Mandy) Darbyshire, and Kate (Trey) Stinnett;4 Great Grand Children, Cameron, Tommy, Benjamin, and Hunter. He is preceded in death by his parents Charles Thomas Hirst, Sr. and Blanche (Johnson) and grandparents Benjamin and Mary Hirst. Chuck graduated from North High School in Columbus. He served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Charles retired after 32 years of service as a Sales Representative, and Vice President for the A.E. Kayes Company, Inc., and was a 12 year employee of Target Stores. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge -York #563 and members of American Legion Post #614 and Heritage Golf Club. The family will receive friends 1-4 pm Saturday at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME WITH CREMATORY, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026; where a memorial service will follow at 4 pm Saturday. In keeping Charles’s wishes, cremation will follow the service.
