Charles Roy Hix, Sr., age 87 of Orient died December 24, 2010 at his residence. He was born August 15, 1923 in Mt. Sterling, OH. Son of the late Harry and Goldie (Bush) Hix.
Mr. Hix was a retired Supervisor at Orient State Institute; an Army veteran of World War II, fought in the Battle of the Bulge, awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
He was preceded in death by wife, Lois; daughters Charlene Bragg and Ruth Ann Puckett; brothers Ray “Bud”(Cheryl) and Paul “Sonny”; sisters Emogene Thompson, Donna Bowshier, Nellie Stewart, and Stella Payne.
He is survived by sons Charles R. Hix, Jr. (Rachel), Paul E. Hix; many grandchildren, great, and great-great grandchildren which he loved dearly.
A Funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Sterling. Rev. James Blankenship officiating with the burial following in Pleasant Cemetery. A military service will be performed by the Circleville Amvets Post #2256 at the grave site.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 29, 2010 from 4 – 7 p.m.
