Charles Nelson Lord, 85, with his wife Linda by his side, peacefully left this life to be with his Father and Lord on March 13, 2018, while under the care of The Laurels of Hilliard (Ohio) Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Ft. Pierce Florida, he and his family were true pioneers of the (pineapple) plantation era of and in southern Florida. His familial roots sprouted what we now know is modern southern Florida agriculture.
Chuck was a proud Army veteran of the Korean War (’53-’54) in the 1st Battalion 7th Infantry Regiment, receiving the Korean Service Medal w/ a Bronze Star, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and received the rank of Sergeant . He was a life-long student of history of the world and the militaries that protected their interests. He would read and study endless sources of history and could share the most amazing facts of our worlds’ history. He happily and humbly worked a blue collar profession in the auto mechanical industry, not for the money, but to give everything that he had away to anyone in need.
This man had never met anyone who did not immediately love him, and then, would love him for the rest of their lives. This man epitomized the meaning of love. Never, did the man put himself before anyone else. He was a passionate lover of the outdoors and the ocean. He loved fishing and exploring nature. He loved his family and taught them the right way. His legacy of love and honesty lives in the hearts of his family and we will spread his love as he taught us to.
He is welcomed into Heaven by his father and mother, Harold “Happy” & Janetta (Fraley), Grandfather & Grandmother, Charles and Emma D., and sister Lee. He will forever be remembered by his living relatives: Loving Wife- Linda (Sontchi), Sons- Neal Sargeant (Plain City, OH) & Sean Sargeant (San Antonio, TX), Step-Daughters- Barbara Prange & Jack (SC) & Laura Wilson (OK), Grandchildren- Piper (Mathews), Robbie, & Scotty Prange, Jack Wilson, Lauren, Cody, & Shane Sargeant, Piper & Megan Sargeant.
Chuck will be laid to rest with his father, grandmother and grandfather in the historic Palms Cemetery in (Ankona) Ft. Pierce, Florida. Tidd Funeral Home in Hilliard Ohio will prepare his cremated remains for final resting, prior to placement at the cemetery. A special thanks to the very caring staff at the Laurels of Hilliard, Vitas Hospice Healthcare, Tidd Funeral Home, and Haisley-Hobbs Funeral Home for helping Chuck reach the end with dignity and caring for and attending to the family’s needs during this loss. Condolences may be sent to easywind003@yahoo.com (Neal Sargeant)
