Charles Edward “Ed” Meyers, age 86, of Hilliard, died Saturday August 1, 2015. Born April 20, 1929 in Crestline, Ohio to the late William and Helen (McDermott) Meyers. Graduated from Crestline High School. He attended The Ohio State University and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran who served during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by the State of Ohio-Bureau of Workers’ Compensation for 30 years and served on the Hilliard City School Board of Education for nearly 10 years in the late 70s and early 80s. He had an active role in the Hilliard Optimist Club for many years, coaching little league football and other activities for the club. He enjoyed playing golf, watching the Cleveland Indians and a wide variety of sports. He enjoyed his retirement years as a starter and ranger at Darby Creek Golf Course; he said it was his favorite job. Ed is survived by his wife Shirley, son Mark (Mike Lee), daughters Helen (Dan) Hoffman, Rachel (Tom) Myers, grandchildren; Phillip (Marie), Nathan (Emily Jones), Rebecca (Jacob Sanders) Hoffman; Annie, Laney and Henry Myers and sister Rita Dougherty, Oakland, CA. Preceded in death by sister Patricia McMahon. Please omit flowers.
