Charles A. Rhinehart, 75 of Lincoln Village, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2010. He was born October 31, 1934 in Columbus, Ohio. Charlie served in the Korean War. Following his tour in the military, he worked for General Motors at the Fisher Body plant on Georgesville Rd for 35 years. He was a loyal and dedicated member of UAW LOCAL 969 and held various elected positions including Alternate Committeeman, Committeeman, Committeeman at Large culminating in his election as the Shop Chairman. It was often said, “No one knew the UAW collective bargaining contract better than Charlie” and “When Charlie Rhinehart spoke, people listened.” Charlie was also a proud member of the Moose Lodge #11, the FOE #3620, and the American Legion #532.

Charlie is predeceased by his mother and father, Mildred and Oscar Rhinehart, and brothers, Thomas and Oscar Rhinehart. Charlie is survived by the love of his life, Saundra K. Jackson, daughters, Sandy Cook (Doug) and Peggy Scott (Robert) and sisters, Naomi Bowman, Loretta Hale, Sarah Dunn and Elmira (Cookie) McGoon and their families and loved ones including Arnold and Rena Collins, Charles Jackson and Kim Mullins, many nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Charlie lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed his family, friends and OSU football. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Tidd Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, Ohio 43026. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 10 from 2:00 –4:00 pm and 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm followed by a funeral service on Thursday, February 11 at 11:00 am.
