Heaven gained another angel on June 26, 2020. Charlotte Anne (Marshall) Gurney was born on March 6, 1942 in Abilene, Texas. She was a graduate of Dumas High School, received her bachelor’s degree at West Texas State University where she played on the tennis team and was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority, and received her master’s degree at Washington State University. Char grew up with music in her life and was a 51-year member of Sweet Adelines International. There, she was a singer, teacher, vocal coach, contest judge, and mentor. She was also the musical director of the Scioto Valley Chorus in Dublin, Ohio for 30 years.
Char was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Billie Marshall, and daughter, Denise Gayle Gurney. She is survived by her daughter, Kerry Lynn Denino (Steve), Kerry’s father - Roy Gurney, and grandsons, Samuel Ryan Denino and Nicholas Stephen Denino.
Char was kind, caring, loving, witty, smart, creative, radiant, talented, and had a strong faith in the Lord. She will be missed and remembered.
