Christine "Chrissy" Walker

d. February 23, 2012

Christine Marie Walker (Chrissy), age 24, of Hilliard, went home to be with the Lord on February 23, 2012 after a courageous and hard fought 14-month war with colon cancer.

Chrissy blessed all upon her arrival into this world on November 1, 1987. She is survived by her loving parents, Hetty and John, and beloved brother Zachary.

Chrissy was very appreciative of Sue and Linn Van Woerkom for all the love, concern, care, and kindness throughout her entire life and struggle. Her boyfriend, Josh Boring, played an integral part in providing care and quality of life. The physicians and staff of the Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital are to be commended for their exemplary care and professionalism throughout this battle. We are so grateful for the many friends, too numerous to mention, who supported Chrissy and her family in a variety of loving ways throughout this trying time.

Chrissy was an honors graduate of Hilliard Davidson High School (2006). She enjoyed being editor in chief of the Wildcat School Magazine in her senior year. In 2010 she graduated Cum Laude from The Ohio State University with a B.S. in Health Information Management Systems, passed the RHIA credentialing exam, and landed her first professional position with the Cleveland Clinic. She was diagnosed a week after accepting the job and elected to turn down the position to be with her family and receive treatment at OSU. Chrissy was an avid fan of reading, boating, ballet, cooking, exercising and spending time with family and friends.

Chrissy, an admirable example of persistence, fortitude, and character during her fight will be missed by so many until we see her again.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday March 4th at Scioto Ridge United Methodist Church, 4343 Dublin Road Hilliard, Ohio. Reception will be immediately following.

Chrissy was an active participant and proponent of Colon Cancer Research.
