In Loving Memory of Clara Hackney

Mother, Grandmother, Sister & Friend to many.

Clara, born December 23, 1937, went home to Jesus in the early hours of January 16, 2025 at the age of 87. Upon arrival she will unite with parents Cort and Ollie Hall, grandson Vincent Hackney, brothers Monroe and Harvey Hall, and sisters Marie Borders, Goldie Johnson, and Jewell Johnson.

Left to carry on are Clara’s beloved sisters, Emma Hager and Billye Combs; Sons Charlie (Cindi) Hackney, Jospeh (Jackie) Hackney, and daughter, Lori Duckworth. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, who she loved until her last breath: Jeremy (Christina) Hackney; Adam (Rachel Bowen) Hackney, Dustin (Deanna Vaughn) Hackney; Zoey (Trevor Stauffer) Hackney; Holly (Alan) Albrecht; Joseph (Bailey) Hackney; Jon (Jessica Rosas) Hackney; Jessica Hackney; Vivian Duckworth, Aidan Duckworth, and Caleb Duckworth. She also leaves her beloved great-grandchildren, who knew her as “the great one”: Paige Hackney, Olivia Hackney, Mac Hackney, Clara Hackney, Emmett Stauffer, Lucy Stauffer, Liana Albrecht, Abel Hackney, Elliott Hackney, and Samuel Hackney.

Clara was born in the Appalachian hills of Eastern Kentucky and made her way to Ohio as a teenager, which is where she called home for most of her life. She retired after working thirty years for General Motors. Clara received immense joy from the people in her exercise group, condo friends and friends from GM, and our family would like to thank you for your wonderful friendship to Clara. She traveled the country and the world, never met a dog she didn’t love, and her very favorite things was to make people laugh.

The family would also like to thank the finest hospice care facility, Care 360 Hospice, and the team led by Nicole Lampeter. Lastly, we would like to thank daughter-in-law Cindi, who has been an angel to Clara during the past couple years getting her groceries, meals, medicine, and anything else she needed without complaint. 

Clara had an infectious, relentless, and unstoppable positive attitude that she carried throughout her life. It is our honor to carry that forward. She loved her family and friends fiercely and we were so very fortunate to have had her in our lives.

Celebration of Life:

There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 12:00-4:00, at the home of Charlie and Cindi Hackney, 8210 Patterson Road, Hilliard, Ohio 43026. Loved ones are invited to attend and share their memories and stories. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to care360hospice.com in her honor.
