Clarence Latimer Barnett “Nance”, age 91, of Ormond Beach, FL and Columbus, OH, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2009. Nance graduated from Follansbee High School in 1935 where he played at that end position on the football team. U.S. Navy Veteran WWII. Retired from Equitable Life Insurance Company with 32 years of service. He was a starter at Scioto Country Club for 5 years; past President of Newell, WV Lions Club; past member of The Columbus Maennerchor and volunteered at the Veteran’s Retirement Home in Daytona Beach. Nance was an accomplished golfer having scored 6 holes-in-one. He was a member of Twin Oaks Golf Club of Dublin, OH and Riviera Country Club, Daytona, Beach. Preceded in death by parents, Clarence Arlington Barnett and Florence Chariza (Marsh) Barnett, loving wife of 59 years Helen Marie Barnett, brothers and sisters Robert, Virginia, Paul, Hugh, Harold and Dick. Survived by children Bob (Lysbeth) Barnett of Huntington, WV; Jim (Paula) Barnett of Upper Arlington, OH and Jane (Larry) Powell of Hilliard, OH, sisters Mary Gracey of Wheeling, WV; Doris Ficca and Jean Verner of Weirton, WV; grandchildren Megan Barnett of New Haven, CT; Alexis Sergi of Sarasota, FL; Katie Powell of Washington, DC; Beau and Alex Barnett of Columbus; Austin Powell of Hilliard; and 5 great grandchildren. Family wishes to express their thanks to the staff of Traditions at Mill Run for their care and friendship. There will be no local service. A memorial service will be held at 10:00AM, September 5, 2009 at the Church of Christ (Christian), Penn and Neville Sts., Follansbee. Inurnment St. John’s Cemetery, Colliers, WV.
