In loving memory of Clyde A. Bowman, 75, of Marysville, Ohio who passed away Monday, 12 December 2022 after a brief, yet valiant battle with illness. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Clyde was born 13 June 1947 in Chicago, Illinois to Caroline and Edward Bowman. He graduated from Lane Tech High School and while attending Elmhurst University, his Marine Corps ROTC unit was selected to go to Vietnam. With over 25 years of service in the Navy and Army, Clyde retired as a Sergeant Major with 4th US Army. Just before he passed, he was an active member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, holding various staff officer positions culminating in being the Vice Division Commander of Division 082-18.
A man of service, Clyde was also a retired High School teacher, soccer and softball coach and was planning on attending seminary in the new year. He held a Bachelor’s Degree in Middle East Studies (Islam), a Master’s in Education and History, and post graduate work in the Islamic Middle East. He was also a two-time honor graduate from the Defense Language Institute.
Clyde was a dynamic and loving husband, father, and friend whose vast life experiences made him a commanding presence in any room he entered. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Bowman, son and daughter-in-law Kurt and Wendy Bowman, daughter Courtney Bowman, and grandchildren, Gavin and Harrison Bowman.
Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00p.m. WEDNESDAY at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, OH 43026 (614)-876-1722 and from 9:00a.m.-10:00a.m. on THURSDAY, DECEMBER 22, 2022 at ST. JOHN LUTHERAN CHURCH, 6135 Rings Road, Dublin, OH 43016 where his Funeral Service will follow the visitation and begin at 10:00a.m. THURSDAY. Burial with Military Honors will be held 2:00p.m. THURSDAY at Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio.
