Constance “Connie” (Cozad) Baumgartner passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 8, 2016. She was married for 56 years to Robert “Bob” Baumgartner, who joined his loving wife just days later on Thursday, December 14, 2016. Connie was born June 19, 1933 in Wapakoneta, OH, the daughter of the late Powers and Floy (Anspaugh) Cozad of Wapakoneta. She graduated from Blume High School in 1951 and attended Ohio University where she earned her certifications to teach business and English. She taught at Charles F. Brush High School in Lyndhurst, OH and then later at West Geauga Local Schools in Chesterland, OH before retiring. Bob was born March 22, 1933 in Cleveland, OH, the son of the late George and Helen (Lehr) Baumgartner of Novelty, OH. He graduated from Charles F. Brush High School in 1951, and then served four years in the United States Navy. Upon earning a degree in education from Kent State University, Bob became an industrial arts teacher at Brush High School where he met Connie and wed in 1960. Later he earned a Master’s degree in Education administration from Kent State and served as Business Manager of the South Euclid-Lyndhurst City Schools from 1970 until 1988. He then worked as Program Manager for the Greater Cleveland Schools’ Council until retirement. Bob was selected for the Brush High School “Wall of Achievement” by the alumni association in 2013. Connie and Bob resided in their Novelty home for over 50 years before recently moving to Hilliard, OH for health reasons. They were extensive global travelers, logging countless miles both overseas and throughout North America. For years they enjoyed spending the cold winter months in sunny Destin, Florida, however their favorite get away was always to their condo on beloved Chautauqua Lake, NY. Connie’s other hobbies included reading, cooking and bicycling. Bob enjoyed boating, skiing and driving the Yellow Rose, his classic Mercedes convertible. Both treasured the time spent with family and friends. Their caring, giving nature will be missed by everyone who knew them. Connie was predeceased by her older brother Richard Cozad. Bob was predeceased by his older sisters Jean (Baumgartner) Erickson and Patricia (Baumgartner) Schneider.
