Darrell B. Krasny

Darrell Bennett Krasny, age 87, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024. 

Born in 1937 in Euclid, Ohio, Darrell graduated from Euclid High School in 1955. Darrell served his country in the U.S. Army before earning his bachelor’s degree at The Ohio State University. It was here that he met the love of his life, Rita, whom he married in 1963. 

Darrell was an accountant at Abbott and Company for almost thirty years, where he was known for his dedication to his work and his sense of humor. 

Outside of work, Darrell’s main hobby was aviation. He earned his instrument, dual engine and instructors’ ratings, instructing and flying charters from the Marion Municipal Airport. In recent years he enjoyed flying aircraft of a much smaller scale as an active member of the Central Ohio Radio Kontrol Society (CORKS).

At home, Darrell was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, involved in his children’s and grandchildren’s music and sports activities. He and Rita also enjoyed camping with their family, where many fond memories were made.

Darrell was a devout Christian and was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church for the many years he and Rita lived in Marion.

Darrell is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Rita (Greer) Krasny, his daughter Kimberly Krasny (Craig Wyckoff), his son Darren Krasny (Julia Cavanaugh Krasny), grandson Kyle Andrew Draghi and granddaughter Jaelyn Nicole Krasny. He is preceded in death by his parents, Max H. and Mary M. Krasny, and his sister Linda Krasny.

Family will receive friends from 11:00a.m.-12:00p.m. on SATURDAY, APRIL 12, 2025 at EPWORTH UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 249 Center Street, Marion, Ohio 43302 where his Memorial Service will follow the visitation and begin at 12:00p.m. SATURDAY.  Reverend Jennifer Bass will officiate the service.  United States Army Honors will be rendered after the service.
