David Phillip Joseph Kennedy

David Phillip Joseph Kennedy, born in Columbus, Ohio on June 29, 1971, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones and the exceptional, compassionate care team of the ICU at Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, Ohio on March 26, 2025. He was a son of Benjamin M. and Beverly Kay (Borders) Kennedy.

David was a proud graduate of Hilliard High School in 1989. He grew up participating in many sports, with baseball being his absolute favorite. Many neighborhood games of wiffle ball, football, and basketball were played growing up, where David made countless friends and memories. He earned his associate's degree and spent most of his working days in the automotive industry as a Production Scheduler and Supervisor, with most of his career spent at AY Manufacturing, Ltd in Columbus.

David was a big fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Dallas Cowboys, and the Cincinnati Reds. He was also a dedicated member of the Columbus Spitballers of the Central Ohio Men's Adult Baseball League (Spitballers for Life!) and participated in countless bowling leagues in the Columbus area. Additionally, David loved to golf and was most recently a member of the Yeti Golf League on Wednesday nights at New Albany Links. His daughter, Alexis Jane Kennedy, was his pride and joy. He loved her to no end and was so proud of all that she continues to accomplish in her academic and extracurricular life.

David is survived by his fiancé Jennifer Funkhouser of Groveport; daughter Alexis Jane Kennedy of Hilliard; brothers and sister-in-law, Michael Kennedy of Columbus, Darin Kennedy of Columbus, and Chad (Mary) Kennedy of Hilliard; nieces and nephews, Shawn Thomas, Isabella Kay Kennedy, and Abigail Elizabeth Kennedy, all of Hilliard; aunts and uncles Baird (Judy) Borders of London and Elizabeth Kennedy of Columbus; many first and second cousins. David was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Arbie and Opal Borders, grandparents William and Elizabeth Kennedy, aunts and uncles Richard Kennedy, William (Mary Jo) Kennedy, John (Jane) Kennedy, Jerry (Sharon) Kennedy, Bob (Susi) Kennedy, and Edward Kennedy, and cousins Doug Kennedy and Lisa Kennedy Reber.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00pm on Thursday, April 10, 2025, and from 10:00-11:00am on Friday, April 11, 2025, at the Tidd Family Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, OH 43026, where a Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, April 11, 2025. A private interment ceremony will be held at Kirkwood Cemetery in London, OH at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of David to the Hilliard Baseball Association or any organization that supports youth sports.

The family is deeply grateful for the support, donations, and prayers from family and friends as David battled health issues these past three years. Special appreciation goes to the Hilliard High School Class of 1989 for all that they have done to uplift David and his family financially and spiritually, and for their genuine love for David.

David will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
