Delbert Delos Miller (89) passed away in Hilliard, OH on September 26, 2024. He was born in North Platte, Nebraska on August 22, 1935, to Alfred Delos and Augusta (Barylien) Miller.
Delbert served in the U.S. Navy, during the Korean War, as a Seabee. After his military service, he began a career as an over the road truck driver.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, John William, Ethel Louise (Williams), James Walter, Martha Marie (Koonce), Myrtle June (Johnson) and Floyd Eugene; his spouse Martha LaVern (Hubbell) Miller; and his daughters Betty Marlene (Martinez) and Bonita “Bonnie” Jean (Garcia). Del is survived by his dear wife, Esther Belle (Sheriff) Miller; his children, Kenneth “Kenny” Miller and Beverly (Angeles) Miller; his stepchildren Linda (Osborne) Henry, Carla (Osborne) Ramsey, Jane (Osborne) Miller and James John Osborne; his siblings, Vera Elizabeth, Alfie Lee, Sharon Eileen (Buchanan), Shirley Kay (Justice) and Pamela Christine (Brown) along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Delbert loved to fish, particularly in the Columbia River. At home, his joy was gardening, cultivating vegetables and flowers and enjoying the fruits of his labor. He appreciated the outdoors in many ways. Before moving to Ohio, Del was a member of the Examples Choir in Lawrenceville, GA. He loved to sing for the Lord and in 2012, Del traveled to Tennessee with the Examples Choir. The Choir competed in the Smoky Mountain Jubilee where they won first place. After moving to Ohio, he joined New Life Church in Circleville, OH. Those who knew and loved Delbert remember his wonderful storytelling. Also, his humor was contagious, putting smiles on many faces of whoever he was with. He was a joy to be with and will be missed deeply.
The family will receive friends at New Life Church 7766 Stoutsville Pike, Circleville, OH on Saturday, October 26th. Visitation from 11:00 - 12:00 pm and a memorial service at 12:00 pm. Delbert’s inurnment will take place at Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, OH with military honors on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 10am.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be given to New Life Church, 7766 Stoutsville Pike, Circleville, OH 43113.
