Delores "De" Sherwood

Dolores (De) Yvonne Sherwood, age 83, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2014, in the Marion Manor Nursing Center at 9:17 a.m. She was born in Hilliard, Ohio on July 28, 1931 to Edward and LuLu (Shier) Sherwood. Dolores graduated from Hilliard High School in 1949. After high school, she began working as a clerk in the bookstore of Augsburg Publishing House in downtown Columbus, and later moved to the audio-visual department from which she retired in 1989. She then worked part time for Spencer Research in Dublin. Dolores was a 25 year member of the American Business Women’s Association. She was President of the Flambeau Chapter and a charter member and President of the Voyager Chapter. She was twice named Woman of the Year. Dolores was a volunteer at Riverside Hospital and received awards for her more than 30 years of service as well as being honored as Volunteer of the Year. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dublin and served as a Sunday school teacher and catechism instructor in her early years. After retirement, she moved to Dublin, and in 2008 moved to Marion where she resided at the Kingston Residence until July 2014. Dolores is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Wanda Straub. Survivors include brother-in-law, Richard Straub, 3 nieces; Paula Stewart of Northfield, MN, Marilyn (Tim) Wilson of Marion, OH, and Lois (Ron) Glazener of La Vernia, TX, 1 great-niece; Kira Glazener and numerous cousins. Calling hours will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dublin, OH. The funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. with Senior Pastor John Greig officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Grove Cemetery near Plain City. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
