Donald Carman, 88, of Hilliard joined his Savior on July 6, 2020. Don was a kind, caring man, leader, teacher, pastor and mentor to many, as he strove to be like Jesus whom he followed. He was born in Waverly, Ohio to the late Thelma Carman Kent and Homer Carman. He was preceded in death by his brother Richard. Don graduated from Waverly High School, enlisted in the Army during the Korean conflict and served in the Pentagon. He retired from the US Postal Service as a Postal Executive having served as Postmaster in Lima, Ohio, and Director of Mail Processing in Columbus. His manner made people want to do their best even when corrected. Following retirement, he pursued his passion of teaching, leadership and caring for people as Associate Pastor at Scioto Ridge UMC in Hilliard. He loved a clean garage, freshly mowed lawn, newly washed car, the Buckeyes and his dog, Homer, but most of all his family and friends. Don is survived by his beloved wife, Susan, former wife Joan Oyer, daughters Terry Roe (Michael), Lorie McCollough (Kevin), Beth Hill (Rick) and step-daughter Corinne Jakes (David), and by 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A private service will be held and a Celebration of Life at a future date as conditions allow.
