Donald Luther Thompson

January 16, 1936 — August 4, 2024

Donald (Don) Thompson, age 88 passed away peacefully on August 4, 2024. Don was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Carr Meysenburg Thompson. Also preceded in death by his parents: Raymond (Louise) Thompson and siblings Wray Thompson, Martha Zeller, Thomas Thompson, Emerson Thompson and Virginia Thompson.

Don graduated as Salutatorian from Columbus Linden McKinley High School in 1954. After graduation he worked at Rockwell International and McDonnell Douglas before retiring in 1997.

As a man of great faith Don enjoyed singing in various church choirs. These include Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at Buckeye Lake, Ascension Lutheran Church in Clintonville and Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hilliard.

In retirement, Don and Mary moved to Buckeye Lake where they enjoyed many wonderful years in the Harbor Hills Community. Don enjoyed taking evening cruises on his boat and having friends and family come to their lake house to make wonderful memories.

Don is survived by his children, Eric (Tina) Thompson, Rachel Thompson (Jerry Wholaver), Dwight (Kate) Thompson, brother in law Todd (Arlette) Meysenburg, grandchildren, Adam Thompson, Aiden Thompson, Kalea (Jeremy) Noe, Emily (Sam) Muter, Travis (Caitlin) Hardin, Chelsea (Darion) Panton, Cody (Jayda) Thompson, great-grandchildren, Marlowe and Miles Noe, Mason and Maelee Muter, Lucy Hardin, Kiara Panton, Gray and Saryn Thompson. Don is also survived by numerous loving relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends for a Celebration of Life Gathering on Saturday, August 17 from 2-5 at the Berry Leaf Place Community Center located at 4962 Berry Leaf Place, Hilliard, OH 43026.
