Donald E. Wickiser “Wick”, age 86, of Hilliard, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018. Don was born in New Albany to the late Albert and Eva Wickiser. Don is preceded in death by his loving son and buddy, Brad Wickiser, siblings Lloyd, Burl, Harold, Ed, Gladys Rowland and Martha Potts. Don is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Jean “Jeannie”, daughters Kathy (Rich) Grunenwald of Hilliard and Jodi (Mike) Lewis of Galloway, daughter-in-law Cherie Wickiser of FL, his beloved and precious grandchildren Amanda and Andrew Grunenwald, Matt Wickiser, and Steven (Sydney) Lewis, sister Pauline Boring and special niece Marilyn Pendleton. Don graduated from McKinley High School in 1949; where he was an outstanding basketball and baseball player. Following high school, he served in the Korean War and during a 5-day leave came home and eloped his high school sweetheart on Christmas Eve, 1951. After the war, Don became a Columbus Police Officer and served for 28 years, very proud of his service to the City of Columbus. During that time, he played softball for the Police team for many years and upon retirement continued playing for various teams, totaling 45 years of the sport. His other love was the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Reds. Friends are invited to visit and share remembrances Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm (FOP service at 8 pm) at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026; where funeral service will be held Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11 am.
