Donna Jean Thompson, 61, of Mt. Sterling passed away at her residence Friday evening, October 30, 2009 from her battle with cancer. Donna was born to the late Howard and Glenys Parker on April 21, 1948 in Hilliard, Ohio. She graduated from Hilliard High School in 1966.
She married Jerry L. Thompson in 1969 and lived in Mt. Sterling for the last 27 years.
Donna was a very caring woman. She was very active with her family, whether it was going to competitions, meets, games, concerts, getting the family together for cookouts, she never once complained. She enjoyed most her yearly vacations to Canada for fishing, friends, and relaxation with her husband.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents, sister Linda Parker, and mother-in-law Lillie Wrightsel.
She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Jerry L. Thompson, Sr.; her children Jerry Thompson, Jr., Errick and Miranda Thompson, George and Cassandra Thompson, Doreen and Parish Baker; grandchildren Anthony, Jasmine, Mercedes, Jacob, Lynna, Michaella, Constance, Dakota, Erricka, George Jr. and soon to be Zoey; brothers and sisters, Caroline & Lee Newbar, Kenneth & Marilyn Parker, Phyllis & Larry Schriener, Shirley & Steve Whitaker, and Randy Parker; numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Donna will be remembered for being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and most of all best friend. She will be forever in our hearts, missed very dearly, but never forgotten.
A Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Sterling. Pastor Steve Whitaker and Don Thompson will officiate with the burial following in Pleasant Cemetery, Mt. Sterling. Family will receive friends on Wednesday beginning 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
