Donna Wharton, age 81, of London, passed away August 14, 2024. She was the daughter of Richard and Marian Stotts. Donna became a Christian and was baptized when she was 14 years old, which became one of the most significant events in her life, and her relationship with Jesus Christ strengthen her to the end.
Donna graduated from Pleasant View High School in 1961. She then pursued post secondary education at both Ohio State University and Capitol College, majoring in Music with a concentration in Vocals. A change in her educational direction brought her to Franklin University, where she received a degree in Accounting.
Donna’s career path enabled her to leverage both her accounting education as well as computer skills. Her last job was at Jeffery Mining Machine Shop where she was employed for 15 years until the company closed its doors.
At the same time, Donna was a member of the Gospelites Quartet, where she made three records and tapes. She was soprano or alto depending on what was needed at the time. She was with them for 19 years, and they often traveled around the country in the summer. Many came to salvation through their ministry. Donna was also the Choir Director for Lincoln Baptist Church for many years.
Donna married Ronald Dean Wharton on June 6, 1983. Their marriage was one of mutual love, support and respect. Ron went to heaven in 2009.
After Ron’s death, Donna made another significant life change, and pursued training in the area of Christian counseling. She obtained a degree from Light University in Biblical Counseling in 2011, along with multiple subsequent counseling certifications. She spent her remaining years helping, encouraging, and supporting many other people.
Preceded in death by father John (Les) Snyder (1989), mother Marian M. Snyder (2010), and brother Russell Snyder.
Survived by her sister Carolyn Sue (Bill) Tabor, and by sons Keith (Terry) Wharton and Brian (Ting Hwee) Wharton.
Family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, August 19, 2024 from 10am-11am at Life in Christ Fellowship, 500 OH-142, West Jefferson, OH 43162; where funeral service will follow at 11am. Interment at Alton Cemetery.
Her life can be summarized by the words of the Apostle Paul in I Timothy, where he cautions us to put our hope only in God, and to lay up treasures in heaven by being generous and willing to help others.
