Dorothy Mae “Dottie” Baker Eaton, age 79, of Hilliard, OH, passed away, Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She was the fourth of six children born to Estal and Ida Huber, in Lawrenceville, IN, where she was raised on a dairy farm. She began her cosmetology career in Cincinnati, Ohio, with Gladys Fuller Hair Styling. She founded Dottie Baker’s Hair Styling in Hilliard, OH, in 1973, where she established a clientele she loved and continued working with for the rest of her life. She lived in Lawrenceville, IN; Cincinnati, OH; Shelbyville, IN; Houston, TX; and Hilliard, OH. She loved nurturing others, sewing, art, singing, dancing, cooking, gardening, swimming, and travel. She was active in countless school and community activities, a Girl Scout leader, vocational school resource, delivered Meals on Wheels, and held numerous Hilliard Presbyterian Church leadership roles including co-founder of church Clowning troupe, bible school leader, church youth group leader and church choir member.
Survived and missed by husband George Richard “Dick” Eaton; daughters Cheryl (Tim) Lewis, Lori (Tim) Dougherty, and Cassie (Brent) Allen of Hilliard, OH, and Cindi (Steve) Lorenz of Cleveland, OH; grandchildren Breanna and Claire Lewis, Pat and Ellen Dougherty, Camden, Carmen, and Corbin Allen; step children Tim (Tricia) Eaton of London, OH, Matt (Debbie) Eaton of Trabuco Canyon, CA, Paul Eaton of Columbus, OH; step grandchildren Mark Eaton of Trabuco Canyon, CA, and Rachel and Ben Eaton of London, OH; siblings, Vernon (Betty Jo) Huber, Lorainne Galle, Shirley Huneke, and Allen (Ruth) Huber of southeast IN; nieces and nephews Joyce, Diane, Christy, Tracy, Wendy, Daryl, Brenda, Doug, Mark, Duane, and their families, along with countless friends who adored her and who she nurtured, and also dogs Neala and Sam. Preceded in death by parents Estal and Ida Huber, infant son, Curt Baker, sister, Betty Ann Roepke, and nephew, Eldon Roepke. Celebration of life service to be held 2 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2014, presided by Pastor Bob Armstrong at Hilliard Presbyterian Church, 3600 Leap Rd, Hilliard, OH 43026.
