Dorothy Ellen Harris, age 88 of Mt. Sterling, died Tuesday evening, November 9, 2010 at Pickaway Manor in Circleville. She was born Nov. 14, 1921 in Mt. Sterling, Ohio.
Mrs. Harris was an Elementary School Teacher of 37 years having taught thousands of children. Most of her school years were in Mt. Sterling teaching the third grade. She was a 50 year member of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Sterling.
Preceded in death by her parents, John and Mae (Dagon) Bogenrife; sister, Beverly Eades.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Grant Harris; niece Melody & Jeff Julien and their children Matt, Mary Beth, and Sarah; nieces and nephews; beloved friend & caregiver, Debbie Barker; special friends Jean Bragg, Peggy Joslin, Don & Betty Passwaters, Walter & Mary White, Steve & Sandy Craig; and good neighbors Gary Neff, Mike & Donna Spradlin.
A Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Sterling. Rev. Michael Berne, Rev. Dortha Ross, and Rev. Jeff Julien officiating with the interment following in Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 12, 2010 from 3 – 6 p.m.
The family would like to thank Berger Hospice Care for all their extended kindness.
Family suggest memorial contributions may be given to First United Methodist Church, 110 S. London St., Mt. Sterling, OH. 43143.
