Douglas MacArthur Havens, 69 of Waterloo, passed away Friday, May 27, 2011 at his home after a long battle against cancer. He was born May 4, 1942 in Washington Court House, son of the late Ernest and Marie (Parkinson) Havens. On May 28, 1961 he married Beverly Sue Webb who survives.
He is also survived by his children, Dorothy Rogers (Mike)of Chillicothe, Douglas Havens of Fayette County, Susan Havens of Waterloo, Jennifer Havens (Thomas Nicely) of Columbus; brothers Gary (Barb) Havens, David (Phyllis) Havens, both of Frankfort; a Special Cousin Max (Beverly) Havens of Mt. Sterling. His grandchildren are Joshua and Ashley Blevins, Sgt Bert (Samantha) Blevins, Adam and April Havens, Caleb and Morgan Blevins, Amanda, Courtney, Bethany Havens, James, Quentin, Perry Havens, Hayley Nicely also survive. He had 8 great grandchildren Anthony, Brandon, Gavin, Alexa, Allison, Garrett, Bryleigh, Lilliana. Nephews who were very special to him, Donald Justice and Eddie Webb.
Doug served in the United States Marine Corps from 1959 to 1965 and was honorably discharged as Lance Corporal (E-3). He worked for Columbus Coated Fabrics for 37 years and retired. He enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, bird watching and spending time with his family.
A Funeral service will be held 12:00 Noon on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Sterling. Pastor Joy Stanforth officiating with burial following in the Waterloo Cemetery.
The Circleville Amvets Post #2256 will perform a military service at the graveside. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, family suggest memorial contributions be made to Fayette County Hospice.
