Douglas Villeneuve

Douglas Paul Arup Villeneuve, of 2997 Atwood Terrace, Columbus, Ohio, born October 5, 1985, passed away January 12, 2020.

Douglas was a loyal son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. Even from a very young age, he never met a stranger. He would talk to anyone and made a friend of everyone he met. His compassion and empathy were apparent in his actions and words.

Doug was born in Calcutta, India at the Mission of Hope. He was adopted at birth by his parents – his father, Paul Villeneuve, and his mother, Deborah Packard. After a very long six-month waiting period, Douglas traveled from Calcutta to Denver, Colorado to be with his family. He was named after his uncle, Douglas Packard, who passed many years before his birth. His middle name Paul, after his father, and his second middle name Arup was given to him at birth, meaning “something that cannot be compared with.”

Douglas was a passionate music lover, and loved to spend as much time with friends as he could. He was a social butterfly who lit up the room as soon as he walked in.  He treasured his family and close friendships like no other. As much as he played, he worked twice as hard. He was always accountable and tenaciously dedicated. He was a true leader. Doug was a compassionate, genuine, easy-going friend to all. He was positive, supportive, and always happy to help anyone in any way that he could. His energy and kindness will be missed, but always felt, by the ones who love him dearly.

Douglas was preceded in death by his father, Paul George Villeneuve of Wilson, NY; grandparents, Audrey (Bedore) Villeneuve and C. Lawrence Villeneuve of Wilson, NY; grandmother Lois (Valois) Packard of Hendersonville, NC; uncle Douglas Packard, of Lewiston, NY; nephew Reid Stewart, of Columbus, OH; cousins Connor and Alexander.

He is survived by his mother, Deborah Mae Packard, of Ashville, NC; Grandfather Dean Packard of Hendersonville, NC; sister Christine Michelle (Villeneuve) Eisell of Asheville, NC; sister Paula Kae (Villeneuve) Stewart (and Richard Stewart) of Hilliard, OH; uncles - Kevin Packard (and Rita Packard), Michael Villeneuve, Joseph Villeneuve, Thomas Villeneuve (and Sue Villeneuve); aunts Rose Schaeffer (and Craig Schaeffer) and Karen Packard; nieces Clara Stewart, Audrey Stewart, Samantha Villeneuve, Adrienne Sherman, Frehley Gagnon, Rory Garrett; nephews Sebastian Stewart, Dillon Villeneuve; and many cousins on both sides of his family.

Services will be held at Tidd Funeral Home in Downtown Old Hilliard, on Saturday, January 18, 2020.

Calling hours are from 1:00 – 2:00 pm. Services start at 2 pm.
