Dr. Edward Copeland

Dr. Edward Brent Copeland, age 75, of Hilliard, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019 at his residence.  Edward began his career as a teacher in Peoria County, IL.  God called him into the ministry and in 1977 he was ordained as a Pastor.  He received his Masters of Divinity in Theology in 1978 and received his Doctor of Ministry in 1982, both from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary Louisville, KY.  He served as Pastor at Richland Baptist Church, Owenton, KY and at First Baptist Church, Fairfield, OH.  In 1987, he continued his ministry as Director of Missions for Metro Columbus Baptist Association, Columbus, OH.  In addition, he served on many advisory boards for various Baptist Associations, the State Convention of Baptists in Ohio, the Home Mission Board, as well as a Trustee of the International Mission Board.  He was a longtime member of Dublin Baptist Church.  After many years of serving in the ministry, he retired in 2002 to enjoy time with his family.  Edward is preceded in death by parents Adrian Edward and Jean (Null) Copeland.  He is survived by his loving bride of 53 years Gloria, daughters Julia (Morgan) Gierman and Jennifer (Christopher) Pond, grandchildren Emily and Zach Pollard, Hannah and Hailey Pond, Laura (Luke) Smith, Isabelle, Morgan, Eleanor, Ben, Ruby Kate and Josiah Gierman. Family will receive friends from 4-7 PM Thursday at Dublin Baptist Church, 7195 Coffman Rd, Dublin, OH 43017.  Funeral service will be held at the church at 11 AM Friday with Rev. Rich Halcombe officiating.  Private family interment at Wesley Chapel Cemetery will follow the service.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given to Stowe Mission of Central Ohio, www.stowemission.org.
