Edith E. “Edie” Clum, 89, of the New Dawn Retirement Community in Dover and formerly of Hilliard, Ohio was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on Sunday, September 6, 2015. Edie was born December 12, 1925 in Canton, Ohio, the daughter of the late John V. and Rosemary (Best) Boerner. In 1944, she graduated from Lehman High School. Shortly afterwards, she lost her beloved father. Edie moved with her mom and younger sister, Lois, to Lima, Ohio. At the time, she was the only one in the family who could drive. While working on the assembly line at Artcraft Appliances, she met the man she would always love, Randal E. Clum. Randy proposed in 1948, while a student at Central Radio & Television School in Kansas City, Missouri. They were married on April 16, 1950, settled in Hilliard, Ohio, and celebrated 53 years together before his passing in April, 2003. In addition to her husband and parents, Edie was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Kathleen Anne. She was also preceded by her brother, John and brother in law, Henry Hinds. Edie and Randy were 50 year members of the Hilliard United Methodist Church, were active at the Hilliard Senior Center, and loved to bowl. They were avid Ohio State Buckeye fans. Edie took up the game of golf at age 70. Her favorite color was yellow and she loved sunflowers. Edie effortlessly found something positive everywhere she looked. She delighted in cooking and caring for her family. She will especially be remembered for her gift with children; hers will deeply miss her and were as follows; Eric (Connie) Clum of Arlington, Texas, Randy (Koral) Clum of Dover, and Tricia (Frank) Corona of Freeport, Ohio. She cherished her four grandchildren, Jeremy (Erika) Clum, Adrienne Ferguson, Casey (Alex) Halmagy, and Emily Corona. Edie was thrilled to add two great grandchildren to the family, Seth and Jenna Ferguson. Edie was loved by a long list of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015 from 5-7pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover. Family will receive friends 9-11 am Saturday at the Hilliard United Methodist Church, 5445 Scioto Darby Rd., Hilliard, OH 43026; where funeral service will follow at 11am.
